The Story Behind Darkside Studios LLC – My name is Jared, and I am the sole owner and creative force behind Darkside Studios LLC. My journey into motorsports and design began before I could even walk. My grandfather owned the oldest Yamaha dealership on the East Coast, and my mother, as the parts manager, had me at the shop since I was just a baby. Growing up surrounded by motorcycles, ATVs, and racing culture, I developed a deep passion for motorsports and customization.
As I got older, I became more involved in the family business, but my true passion was in graphic design and custom branding. In the early 2000s, I began designing graphics for ATVs and dirt bikes, turning that passion into a career. Eventually, I made the decision to leave the family Yamaha business and focus entirely on building my own graphics company, crafting custom designs for motorsports enthusiasts worldwide.
Then, in 2015, a turning point came when a customer approached me with a request for RC graphics. At the time, I was deeply entrenched in the ATV and dirt bike industry, and I was hesitant to take on the project. However, during a slow period of the year, I decided to give it a shot. What happened next completely changed my direction — I was blown away by the response. That first RC graphics kit didn’t just sell well; it sold worldwide, proving there was an untapped demand for high-end, custom RC graphics unlike anything else on the market.
However, I quickly realized that breaking into the RC graphics industry wasn’t going to be as easy as it had been in the ATV and dirt bike world. Unlike motocross graphics, where templates could simply be bought online, the RC industry had no universal templates for cutting graphics to the correct shape. Every design had to be made from scratch, in-house, requiring meticulous measuring, test-fitting, and revisions. On top of that, learning the RC industry itself took years — I had to figure out what sold, what didn’t, and how quickly models changed, sometimes rendering my work completely useless overnight as manufacturers phased out old body styles.
As the RC industry grew, so did my involvement in it. By 2023, I made the decision to fully commit to the RC market, launching Darkside Studios LLC as a brand dedicated to pushing the boundaries of RC customization. Today, I specialize in high-quality, race-ready graphics kits, chassis skins, and apparel for RC cars, boats, planes, helicopters, drag racing, and more. My designs incorporate chrome, metallic flake, neon fluorescents, and other premium finishes, setting a new standard for RC aesthetics and performance.
Over the years, my work has earned numerous awards on and off the RC track worldwide, with championship-winning racers and hobbyists alike choosing Darkside Studios graphics to showcase their style.
